Hangman Page vs. Swerve Strickland vs. Samoa Joe Set For AEW Title Set For AEW Revolution
Hangman Page and Swerve Strickland battled it out in a nail-biting number one contender's match on Dynamite, vying for the chance to challenge Samoa Joe for the AEW World Title at Revolution. But after a grueling 30 minutes, neither competitor managed to pin the other, resulting in a controversial draw.
Just as Swerve stood on the brink of victory, landing a two-count after his JML Driver, the clock cruelly ran out. Desperate, he pleaded for a five-minute extension, but Hangman wasn't having it, insisting he hadn't earned the right to be number one contender.
In a surprising twist, Tony Schiavone announced that both men would be number one contenders, forcing Joe to defend his title in a triple-threat showdown at Revolution.
This decision didn't sit well with the champion. Joe fumed, accusing AEW of "celebrating mediocrity" and declaring neither challenger worthy of sharing the ring with him. However, he vowed to maintain his reign at Revolution, promising both challengers a world of hurt.
