Rana, Russell Stunned Delhi Daredevils
Kolkata Knight riders back to winning streak after two consecutive losses, beaten Delhi Daredevils by 71 runs in a one-sided affair on Monday (April 16). DD never looked in the game despite, Rishabh Pant and Glenn Maxwell's 62 run partnership in 33 balls between them.
Sour Gautam Gambhir's Eden Gardens return, where he scripted several victories for KKR.
Russell and Rana played a big part in KKR innings. After winning the toss, KKR elected to bat first. At one stage they were struggling to score big after they were reduced to 117 for 4 in 14 overs. But Andre Russell changed the game in space of 11 balls before he bowled out to Trent Boult. He was dropped out by Jason Roy on 6 and that proved to be the turning point of the match as he took charge on Mohammed Shami and hit six sixes to him. His 41 of 12 balls and his partnership (61 of 22 balls) with Nitish Rana ensured that KKR put on a massive total. KKR finished on 200 for 9 in 20 overs. Nitish Rana scored 59 of 35 balls including five fours and four sixes.
Trent Boult was pick up bowler for DD as he conceded only 29 runs in 4 overs and picked 2 wickets including Russell's wicket. Mohammed Shami, after bowled decent first two overs, conceding 53 in 4 overs and picked Chris Lynn's wicket.
In the chase, DD made a horrible start and lost first 3 wickets on 24 runs in 3 overs. Pant and Maxwell threatened KKR for a while as both batsmen go after their bowlers. But in this process Pant lost his wicket on 86, he scored 43 of 26 six including 7 fours and a six. However, Maxwell was trying hard to keep the momentum but after hitting two sixes to Kuldeep Yadav, he lost his wicket too in trying to hit another. DD's lower order couldn't do much and lost last five wickets on just 16 runs. DD were bowled on 129 in just 14.2 overs and lost the match by 71 runs. Sunil Narine picked 3 wickets and conceded only 18 runs in 3 overs.
Nitish Rana named Man Of The Match for his brilliant knock of 59 in just 35 balls. Sunil Narine received Purple Cap(leading wicket-taker).
