Roman Reigns vs. Randy Orton Being Considered For WWE Royal Rumble

Stamford, December 1 - Roman Reigns is set to make an earlier return to WWE television than initially anticipated, preceding his WWE Universal Title defense at the Royal Rumble.

Initially, the expectation was for Reigns to remain off television for the remainder of the year and return to build up to the Royal Rumble, scheduled for Saturday, January 27, 2024, in Tampa, FL, at Tropicana Field, following his last match. Reigns successfully defended the Undisputed WWE Universal Title last month against LA Knight in Saudi Arabia.



Contrary to the initial belief that there would be no rematch between Reigns and Knight at the Royal Rumble, WWE has announced Reigns for SmackDown shows on December 15 in Green Bay, WI, January 5 in Vancouver, BC, and January 19 in Atlanta, GA.

In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that, as of earlier in the week, an opponent had not been finalized. However, a prominent name under consideration is Randy Orton. Meltzer speculated that Kevin Owens and Knight could also be potential contenders.
