Suriya's 2D Entertainment Inks A Four Film Deal With Amazon Prime Video

Chennai, August 5, 2021: Tamil actor Suriya's home production 2D Entertainment and Amazon Prime Video have inked an exclusive deal. As part of this collaboration, the next four Tamil movies from 2D Entertainment will premiere directly on Prime Video worldwide, over the next four months, starting from September. ## Interestingly, Suriya's last film as an actor, Soorarai Pottru, was also directly premiered on Amazon Prime Video and got a thundering response from viewers all around the world. The new deal includes films across genres produced by Jyotika and Suriya. In the four films that will premiere on Prime Video, Suriya starrer Jai Bhim, a legal drama, is also included. ## Suriya said, "The past year has been transformative. Given unprecedented circumstances, we innovated on different models of release. Amazon emerged as the chosen streaming service for 2D’s latest film launches. D44: Sun Pictures Announces The Stellar Star Cast For Mithran Jawahar Directorial

Chennai, August 5, 2021: Dhanush is gearing up to start shooting for his next film, referred as #D44, with director Mithran Jawahar. The movie will be produced by Kalanithi Maran of Sun Pictures. The film, expected to be a family drama with its share of romance, will mark the fourth collaboration between the director and the actor, after Yaaradi Mohini, Kutty, and Uthamaputhiran. ## The story is set in two time periods — the protagonist's college days and his adulthood. Dhanush has two love interests, one during the college portions and another for the latter part of the hero's life. #D44 will have music by Anirudh, who will be joining hands with Dhanush after five years.## The title of D44 will be announced on August 5 at 6 PM. Meanwhile, a day before the title announcement, Sun Pictures introduced the stellar star cast of D44. The Mission Mangal actress, Nithya Menon has been roped in to play one of the female leads. She will be sharing screen space with Dhanush for the first time, and she is likely to be paired opposite his character in the post-college portions. ## Raashii Khanna has also been roped in to play an important role. There were rumors that Hansika might be pairing up with Dhanush after 2011's Maappillai, however, the makers have finally roped in Raashi for this multi-starrer. The National Award-winning actor, Prakash Raj, has also been confirmed to be acting alongside Dhanush for the third time, after Thiruvilayadal Aarambam (2006), and Asuran (2019).## Priya Bhavani Shankar, who will be starring in Kamal Haasan's much-awaited, Indian 2, is confirmed in D44, and likely to be seen in the college portions in the film. The veteran actor, Bharathirajaa, is another actor who comes on board for D44. He will be acting alongside Dhanush for the first in this film. ## Meanwhile, Dhanush is currently shooting for director Karthick Naren's "Maaran". The shooting is in its final leg and will soon be wrapped up. Dhanush also completed his Hollywood debut film, "The Gray Man", directed by Russo Brothers. Suriya Plays A Retired Madras High Court Judge In 'Jai Bhim' Based On A Real 1993 Legal Battle!

Chennai, July 29, 2021: Tamil superstar Suriya is working on some of the most exciting and intriguing films. One of them is his 39th film, titled "Jai Bhim", directed by Tha Se Gnanavel and produced by the actor's home banner, 2D Entertainment. ## "Jai Bhim" is based on a real-life courtroom incident. In a recent interview, director TJ Gnanavel has said that the film is based on a real legal battle of a famous lawyer Chandru who brought justice to an Irular tribe woman in 1993. Mr. Chandru was a retired Madras High Court judge when he fought the case for a Tribal woman. Suriya plays justice Chandru's role in the film. ## Though Suriya initially thought of only producing the film, he later read a book on Chandru and came forward to play the particular character. Retd. Judge Chandru is a highly respected Judge, who disposed of 96,000 cases. Madras High Court Comes Down Hard On Actor Vijay And Fined Rs. 1 Lakh For Seeking Tax Exemption For His Rolls Royce Ghost

Chennai, July 13, 2021: The Madras High Court has slammed Tamil superstar Vijay for seeking tax exemption for his Rolls Royce Ghost, which he bought in 2012 in England. Dismissing a writ petition filed by actor Joseph Vijay in 2012, the HC also slapped a fine of ₹1 lakh to be paid by him to the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s Public Relief Fund.## Justice S.M. Subramaniam came down heavily on the actor and said that his fans consider him a real hero in Tamil Nadu. Thus, the actors should behave accordingly and not reel heroes. The HC also criticized Mr. Vijay for not having even disclosed his occupation in the affidavit filed in support of his case.## "It is surprising to note that the petitioner has not even stated his profession or occupation in his affidavit. He has imported a prestigious costly car from England but unfortunately, not paid entry tax as per the statutes. He has filed a writ petition to avoid payment of tax... The petitioner, who is a reputed cine actor, is expected to pay the tax promptly and punctually", the judge said.## "In the State of Tamil Nadu, cine heroes have risen as rulers of the State and therefore, the people are under the impression that they are real heroes. Thus, they are not expected to behave like reel heroes. Tax evasion is to be construed as an anti-national habit, attitude and mindset and unconstitutional", he added.## "The common men are motivated and encouraged to behave as lawful citizens and pay tax and to thrive hard to achieve social justice in the society. If the rich, affluent and reputed persons fail to pay the tax as applicable, then this Court with pain, records that it would be a long way to achieve the constitutional goals", the court obesereved. ## Meanwhile, on the work front, Vijay is currently shooting for his next film titled "Beast" with director Nelson Dilipkumar. National Award-Winning Cinematographer Girish Gangadharan On Board For Kamal Haasan's Vikram

Chennai, July 3, 2021: After the months-long wait, the makers of the Tamil film, Vikram, dropped an update on the film. Lokesh Kanagaraj, who will be helming this Kamal Haasan starrer, took to social media and announced acclaimed Cinematographer, Girish Gangadharan on board. Girish Gangadharan has cranked the camera for Thalapathy Vijay's Sarkar (2018), which marked his debut in Tamil, along with the 2019 Malayalam film, Jallikkattu, among others. Girish won the National Film Award for Best Cinematography for Jallikkattu, which was selected as the Indian entry for the Best International Feature Film at the 93rd Academy Awards, but it was not nominated.
