Akshay Kumar's 'Kesari: Chapter 2' - One of The Best Films of Dharma Productions

Mumbai, February 19 - Superstar Akshay Kumar is a beast of an actor when it comes to playing real-life characters on the big screen. His Kesari (2019) is one of the most memorable films in his vast filmography. The movie was based on the Battle of Saragarhi, a battle between 21 Sikh soldiers of the 36th Sikh Regiment of the British Indian Army and 10,000 Afridi and Orakzai Pashtun tribesmen in 1897. ## The next up for the actor is Kesari: Chapter 2, which is based on the story of lawyer C Sankaran Nair, who fought an 'unprecedented battle' against the British empire in the 1920s after the Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The movie has been in the news for the last few days after the info about its title was revealed. ## Though, Kesari: Chapter 2 is completely different from the original film, it is said that the movie has a thematic similarity with its namesake. Like Kesari, the upcoming movie also focuses on an important chapter of Indian history and both films share a common thread of bravery, inspiration, and patriotism as their core elements. ## As the movie is gaining momentum, producer Karan Johar of Dharma Productions has raised the hype further by calling it one of their best films. During an interview with Komal Nahata, the filmmaker was asked if he had to make a war film, which chapter of history he would like to explore.## The ace filmmaker mentioned that he would love to make a war film on the Jallianwala Bagh incident. He added that there is a true story that he is producing about a man named C. Sankaran Nair, who fought the English crown because, at the time, Colonel Dyer claimed that it was a self-defence act (Jallianwala Bagh massacre), which is simply horrible to hear.## The movie, which was earlier supposed to be titled Shankara, is directed by debutante Karan Singh Tyagi with Akshay Kumar in the lead. Johar added, "I want to say this on record - it (Kesari Chapter 2) is one of our best films that we’ve made and I'm so proud of it. Box Office: 'Sanam Teri Kasam' And 'Interstellar' First Week (7 Days) Collection

Mumbai, February 14 - Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane's romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasanm has completed a week of its re-release run with blockbuster collections. In a drastic turn of events from the original run, the movie is proving to be a mega success at the box office. ## On Thursday (day 7), Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru's directorial minted approximately 2.15 crores net collection, pushing the first week total to around 26.50+ crores net. This already makes it the second biggest re-release grosser at the Indian box office. ## Sanam Teri Kasam has competition in the second week from Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava, however, the movie is expected to continue to do well among the youth and couples. It is likely to become the biggest re-release grosser in India at the end of the second weekend by beating last year's blockbuster Tumbbad (32 crores net). ## Meanwhile, Christopher Nolan's epic sci-fi adventure Interstellar has completed its pre-scheduled short 7 days of run, grossing another approximately 2.60 crores on Thursday (7th day). 'Chhaava' Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, February 13 - Vicky Kaushal reunited with director Laxman Utekar after the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke for the historical action drama Chhaava, based on the life of Maratha king Sambhaji. It also stars Rashmika Mandanna and Akshaye Khanna in prominent roles along with others. ## Chhaava is one of the biggest Bollywood historical action drama films and is set to take possibly the biggest start in this genre. Slated to hit the big screens on February 14, the movie was censored with a U/A certificate with an approved theatrical runtime of 2 hours and 41 minutes. ## Produced by Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films, Chhaava is expected to be released on over 3500 screens and the pre-sales for the same is fantastic, added by allegedly some share of self-bookings. Even without it, the bookings are easily the best for a Bollywood title of the year. ## As of 8 PM on February 13, the film has sold around 400K tickets worth over 11 crores gross collection for the opening day. The final sales can finish around 13 crores, setting the stage for a big opening. These sorts of pre-sales can drive the opening of close to 25 crores net which will put the film as number 1 in the historical genre. ## Chhaava is expected to perform strongly in the Maharastra region due to the regional feel and the pre-sales are also driven by this region. The opening of the film may differ depending on the performance in other parts of the country but at this point, it looks like a 23-25 crores net opener which is fantastic. ## The trade is expecting Chhaava to explode in Maharastra to emerge big success if word of mouth is positive. Mumbai, February 13 - There is no stopping Sanam Teri Kasam which is re-writing records for an Indian film re-release at the domestic box office. It has beaten all but Tumbbad to become the second-biggest Indian re-release grosser domestically. ## Starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane, the heartbreaking romantic tale had a superb 6th day, earning approximately 2.50-2.60 crores net, pushing the total net collection to around 24.25+ crores (28.50+ crores gross) through Wednesday. It is looking to score around 27 crores net in the first week. ## Sanam Teri Kasam has become India's second biggest re-release grosser after last year's blockbuster Tumbbad which minted approximately 32 crores net collection. Budget Trouble Mounts For Salman Khan's Film With Director Atlee

Mumbai, February 12 - There might be curtains to one of the most anticipated Pan India projects, featuring Bollywood superstar Salman Khan with director Atlee, due to the ever-exceeding budget. ## It is widely known that director Atlee will collaborate with Salman Khan for a two-hero mega movie. The untitled project has been in pre-production for quite some now, but according to the latest report by Peepingmoon, it might get shelved. ## Recently, it was reported that Atlee is trying to make the film with a massive budget of 500 crores but the filmmaker is struggling to secure a producer willing to fund this large-scale action spectacle which also might star superstar Rajinikanth. ## It is said that Atlee has been in talks with Jio Studios but the producers are hesitant to invest such a massive amount in a Salman film at this juncture, considering his recent films have all mostly underperformed at the box office. ## Tamil gaint Sun Pictures has also explicitly stated that they are not interested in funding the project with Salman in the lead. Mumbai, February 11 - Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane-fronted romantic drama Sanam Teri Kasam, which was originally released in 2016, has emerged as a big success upon its re-release 9 years later. The film is doing fantastic business and is set to become the biggest re-release grosser in India. ## Despite the setback originally, Sanam Teri Kasam has turned into a cult classic over the years with immense popularity on television.
