Varun Dhawan teamed with Stree fame Amar Kaushik for Bhediya. The trailer of this movie created a good buzz and attracted the audience. Kriti Sanon plays the female lead in this Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy franchise film.
STORY:
Bhaskar (Varun) along with his cousin Janardhan (Abhishek Banerjee) visits A small remote village in the Arunachal Pradesh forest area. He teams up with a set of officers to cut some portion of the forest area in order to establish the development project. However, one night a Ware wolf (Bhediya) attacks Bhaskar and bites him, and the very next day, Bhaskar turns into Bhediya during the night. The rest of the story is about how Bhaskar and his friends dealt with it. The movie carries a big surprise and post-credit scene.
ARTISTS PERFORMANCES:
Varun Dhawan emoted his role extremely well. He has gone through a lot of physical transformation and his portrayal is very natural on the screen. Kriti Sanon gets a little screen presence but she shines in it. But it is Abhishek Banerjee who steals the show with this hilarious comedy. The rest of the actors did justice to their roles.
TECHNICAL DEPARTMENTS:
Cinematography is the biggest asset of this flick. The eye-catching forest visuals and hill station locations are visually appealing. Songs are just okay but Sachin-Jigar gave commendable output in the form of BGM. Editing is below par as nearly 15 mins from the movie in the second half can be easily chopped off to make it better. Coming to the Writer and Director Amar Kaushik, his work is just about okay for the film. He wrote a new concept and added hilarious comedy sequences but was confused about properly integrating various concepts of afforestation, crime, creature thriller, and comedy in a proper manner. Also, the surprising twist before the climax is not properly established. Had he narrated the second half evenly without those unnecessary scenes and improper sequences in some places then the film would have been much better.
THUMPS UP MERITS:
Varun Dhawan performance
Abhishek Banerjee comedy
Novel concept
First half
Pre Climax twist
Excellent VFX shots and cinematography
LET DOWN DRAWBACKS:
Lengthy runtime
Unnecessary scenes in the second half
Lack of clarity regarding the Afforestation concept
Predictability factor
Slow-paced at places
CONCLUSION:
Bhediya is released amidst huge expectations. The movie is also dubbed into multiple languages and got a theatrical release on the same day. The movie plot is something new which is narrated in a hilarious manner. Children might enjoy this movie well in the 3d version of this flick. If you are okay with slow-paced narration and not-so-serious second half which has some unnecessary scenes and lack of intensity then you can consider watching this movie. Bhediya is a one-time enjoyable creature thriller that is the first of its kind.
