Box Office: Salaar Scored Biggest Opening For An Indian Movie In 2023; Fourth Biggest of All-Time

Hyderabad, December 23 - Superstar Prabhas-fronted Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire emerges as the number 1 opening at the box office for an Indian movie in 2023. Prashanth Neel's directorial blockbuster takes the first spot by a big margin.

The action drama film scored a gigantic 158+ crore gross globally, beating Thalapathy Vijay-led LEO which grossed approximately 143 crores worldwide in October. At the domestic box office, the Prabhas-led tentpole minted 105+ crores gross while overseas, it scored 50+ crores on the opening day.

Salaar not only scored the biggest opening of 2023, but it has also taken the 4th biggest start of all time for an Indian title. The film performed exceptionally to go near KGF: Chapter 2, also directed by Prashanth Neel, which is behind SS Rajamouli's RRR and Baahubali, the only Indian films with 200+ crores worldwide openings each.
