'Godzilla Minus One' Tops The List of The Most Pirated Movies In The World

Mumbai, May 9 - Japanese epic Godzilla Minus One, which was a major box office success with over $115 million worldwide gross against a budget of just $15 million, has become the most pirated movie in the world, in less than a week since it started streaming in Japan.

The movie is currently streaming only in Japan which led to massive piracy in the other regions of the world. According to Torrent Freak, the Oscar-winning film topped the piracy chart since coming to Prime Video in Japan, ranking above other new movies like Dune: Part Two, Arcadian, and The Idea of You.



The movie started streaming on Prime Video in Japan on May 1st, and within two days, it was one of the most pirated movies of the year. Godzilla Minus One is currently the hot favourite on torrent sites as fans are desperate to watch the film that has been hailed as the finest film in the Godzilla franchise.

Godzilla Minus One is a kaiju film written, directed, and with visual effects by Takashi Yamazaki. Produced by Toho Studios and Robot Communications and distributed by Toho, it is the 37th film in the Godzilla franchise, Toho's 33rd Godzilla film, and the fifth film in the franchise's Reiwa era.

Set in postwar Japan, it follows a former kamikaze pilot suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after encountering a giant monster known as "Godzilla". Apart from the film's strong commercial success, it went on to win Best Visual Effects at the 96th Academy Awards.
