Kamal Haasan's 'Indian 3' To Have A Direct OTT Release?
Chennai, October 3 - Legendary Kamal Haasan and maverick director S. Shankar reunited for Indian 2, the sequel to their cult blockbuster Indian (1996), in July this year. The sequel was split into two parts with the second part, Indian 3, confirmed to hit the screens early 2025.
Indian 2 was released amid huge anticipation, however, it soon turned into a massive disappointment for the makers as well as fans. The movie met with disaster reviews and public talks which severely impacted its box office. Despite the big opening, the movie ended up as a huge failure with approximately 150 crores gross collection worldwide.
Now, according to the latest buzz in Tamil media, the makers are considering a direct digital release of Indian 3 after the lukewarm response to its predecessor. The buzz is that the makers are not sure about the film's success if it releases in theatres as the buzz is nowhere near to what it was for Indian 2.
The official confirmation, however, has not yet been made by the makers but the chances are high that the movie will skip theatrical release due to the high risk involved. It is also highly unlikely that Indian 3 will make a good profit from the direct OTT release due to its high budget and a part of a poorly made sequel.
As said, it is not officially confirmed whether the makers will take a direct OTT route or will still go with a traditional theatrical release.
