Thalapathy Vijay's 'The GOAT' and Suriya's 'Kanguva' Overseas Theatrical Deals Locked At Huge Prices

Mumbai, August 22 - One of the potential Tamil highest-grossers of the year, The Greatest of All Time (The GOAT) starring Thalapathy Vijay is all set to hit the big screens on September 5th in multiple languages, including Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Hindi, and Kannada.
Directed by Venkat Prabhu, the sci-fi action thriller is super hot in the trade which is expecting it to score huge numbers at the box office. Not just in India, but the overseas market is also where Vijay's films have excelled in the past and the expectations are no less this time as well.
According to the latest Tamil media reports, the entire overseas theatrical rights of The GOAT have been begged by Phars Films for a whopping 53 crores, which is said to be the second biggest for a Tamil title after Vijay's last year's blockbuster Leo (64 crores) and Kamal Haasan's upcoming Thug Life (63 crores).
Given the track record of Vijay's films at the overseas box office, the distributors could be up for huge returns. Apart from The GOAT, Phars Films has also bought Suriya's fantasy action thriller Kanguva, another big Tamil Pan India film of the year. Directed by Siva, the movie is scheduled to be released on October 10, as of now.
It is reported that Phars Films has purchased Kanguva for a whopping 40 crores for the entire overseas region and this is the biggest ever overseas deal for a Suriya-starrer. It is the costliest movie of the actor and is carrying tremendous buzz among the audiences.
