'The Batman' Early Box Office Projections Eyeing Biggest Opening Ever For A Batman Movie

Los Angeles, February 5 - After "Spider-Man: No Way Home", Hollywood is gearing up for the next blockbuster in the form of "The Batman", which is just a month away from its debut on March 4. The DC superhero movie is one of the most anticipated films and the hype around it just keeps getting bigger and bigger.

Starring Robert Pattinson as a new version of the Caped Crusader, "The Batman" is carrying a lot of expectations as far as the box office is concerned. And the early box office projections for "The Batman" is also suggesting it could take the biggest opening for a Batman movie ever.



According to Box Office Pro, the 2022's first bona fide tentpole is currently tracking to earn between $135-$185 million domestically in its opening weekend while its lifetime box office projection currently stands between $340-$540 million domestically.

If the movie opens to its higher projection of $185 million, it will be the biggest debut for a Batman movie ever at the domestic box office (North America). Only three "Batman" movies have had opening weekends of over $100 million domestically, the highest of which overall is "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice's" $166 million. Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" sits just behind it at $160 million in the opening weekend.

Directed by Matt Reeves, "The Batman" is on track to become only the second movie (excluding China) to open over $100 million domestically during the covid-19 pandemic. "Spider-Man: No Way Home" was the first to do. If the Warner Bros. movie opens to its lower end of the projection, it would still place it easily in the top-5 all-time for Batman project.

The film's cast includes Robert Pattinson as Batman, Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, Jayme Lawson as Bella Real, Barry Keoghan as Officer Stanley Merkel, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
