Top 10 Indian Cities Where Most Number of Movie Tickets Sold On Book My Show In 2022
Mumbai, December 25 - Book My Show, the online movie ticket portal, recently revealed the top 10 movies of 2022 with the highest number of tickets sold on its platform. Yash-fronted "KGF: Chapter 2" has been the most-watched Indian film of 2022 with over 50 million footfalls in theaters.
Apart from revealing the top 10 movies, Book My Show also revealed which Indian cities witnessed the highest number of footfalls this year. While the portal didn't reveal the number of tickets, it announced that Hyderabad sold the highest number of tickets this year on BMS.
The Telugu film industry has had great success this year, led by SS Rajamouli's mega-blockbuster "RRR" along with Mahesh Babu's "Sarkaru Vaari Paata", "Bheemla Nayak", "Karthikeya 2", and "Sita Ramam" along with many others. Kannada biggie, "KGF: Chapter 2" also did excellent business in Telugu states.
The silicon valley of India, Bengaluru was also the top contributor to the Indian film industry as BMS announced it sold the second-highest number of movie tickets in the city in 2022. The Kannada film industry has been the biggest box office contributor this year, thanks to the biggest grosser of the year "KGF 2", along with the surprise monster blockbuster "Kantara", "777 Charlie", and "Vikrant Rona".
The Hindi film industry wasn't top of its game in 2022 but still, the key contribution from the films like "Brahmastra", "The Kashmir Files", "Drishyam 2", and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" along with the huge contribution from the Hindi versions of "KGF 2", "RRR", and "Kantara", Mumbai scored the 3rd highest number of footfalls this year, as per BMS. The aforementioned films also attracted Delhi NCR audience as it ranked 4th in the list.
The Tamil film industry also performed well, led by two 400+ crores grossers - "Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1" and "Vikram" this year as Chennai city scored 5th highest number of tickets sold. The next 5 cities with the most tickets sold on BMS are Pune and Kochi at number 6 and 7 while Kolkata, Coimbatore, and Vizag, is at number 8, 9, and 10, respectively.
From the next year, Mumbai might return to the top as there are some of the biggest Bollywood films lined up to release in theaters, including "Pathaan", "Tiger 3", "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan", "Jawan", "Fighter", "Adipurush", "Bade Miyan Chote Miyan", "Animal", and "Dunki", among others.
