The Shoot Of Mani Ratnam's Star-Studded 'Ponniyin Selvan' Completed
Chennai, September 18, 2021: It's a wrap for Mani Ratnam's epic historical drama, Ponniyin Selvan.
The star-studded film based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's epic five-book series novel of the same name, Ponniyin Selvan, has been one of the most-awaited films. Just like most of the other films, PS has been in production for a long time after the shoot of this magnum opus was halted multiple times due to the covid-19 pandemic.
Backed by Mani Ratnam's Madras Talkies along with Allirajah Subaskaran's Lyca Productions, the story of the film chronicles the early days of Arulmozhivarman, one of the most powerful kings in the south, who went on to become the great Chola emperor Rajaraja Chola I. Kalki visited Sri Lanka three times to gather information for it.
On Saturday (September 18), Lyca Productions took to social media and announced the shoot wrap with a new poster. Ponniyin Selvan has already been confirmed to release in two parts with one first part to release in Summer 2022.
Co-written and directed by Mani Ratnam, the movie boost with an ensemble cast of Vikram, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Trisha, Karthi, Jayaram, Jayam Ravi, Sobhita Dhulipala and Aishwarya Lekshmi, while Prabhu, Sarathkumar, Vikram Prabhu, and Ashwin Kakumanu appear in supporting roles.
The music of the film has been scored by Ratnam's regular collaborator and Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman while Ravi Varman is handling the Cinematography.
