The highly anticipated sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, has triggered an unprecedented box office storm. Immediately following the trailer launch on Saturday morning, advance bookings for the film and its paid previews were opened to the public. In a historic feat, the film sold tickets worth Rs 4 crore nationwide in just under two hours. Of this total, Rs 2.50 crore was generated from the top three national chains (PVR, INOX, and Cinepolis), with nearly 35,000 tickets sold in those chains alone.
Trade analysts, including Taran Adarsh, report that the film is currently on a rampage, trending on BookMyShow with over 7.5k to 10k tickets being sold every hour. Industry experts predict that Dhurandhar 2 is on track to become the first Indian film to organically cross 1 lakh ticket sales within its first 24 hours of booking, without the influence of corporate or fan-club blocks. This massive surge in demand has led national cinema chains to introduce a new premium pricing category called Super Blockbuster Plus, with ticket prices in high-end Delhi-NCR multiplexes reportedly reaching Rs 2500 for preview screenings.

The trailer opens with a chilling callback to the original film, featuring a scene reminiscent of the IC 814 hijacking.A terrorist is seen threatening R Madhavan's character, Ajay Sanyal, saying: Hindu bohot hi darpok qaum hai (Hindus are a very fearful community). The hijacker continues with a warning: Pados mein hi rehte hai hum, godhe bhar ka zor laga lo aur bigaad lo jo bigaad sakte ho. As he speaks, the camera cuts to Madhavan, whose screen is filled with a saturated red hue—symbolizing his blood boiling and hinting at the slow-burning revenge he is about to embark on.This red imagery effectively evokes the intensity of the 26/11 sequence from the first film.
While the first film ended with glimpses of Hamza's recruitment, Dhurandhar 2 promises to fully explore the backstory of Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer's real identity). The trailer shows a poignant moment of Jaskirat crying, possibly after a personal loss, which sets the stage for his recruitment by Madhavan as a R&AW agent. This deeply personal conflict ties into cross-border terrorism, eventually unleashing Jaskirat's beast mode as he infiltrates Pakistan's terror networks to become the ruthless Hamza Ali Mazari.
The global response further solidifies the film's Super Blockbuster status. According to trade reports from Venky Box Office, Dhurandhar 2 is witnessing a massive response in the North American market. With 12 days still left until the premieres, the film has already collected $400,112 in premiere advance sales across 542 locations. The opening day advance bookings in the USA have already hit $565,000, while the total first-weekend advance sales have already touched the $1 million mark.
With the film aiming for a Rs 100 crore opening day, Dhurandhar 2 is poised to redefine box office benchmarks for Indian cinema. The Aditya Dhar directorial is scheduled for a worldwide release on March 19, 2026.
