Lakshya and Ananya Panday's upcoming love story, Chand Mera Dil, is all set for its theatrical release this Friday. However, just hours before it hits the big screen, there is a major update regarding its duration. According to an exclusive report by Bollywood Hungama, the film has now become roughly 11 minutes longer than its original censor cut. The Central Board of Film Certification had initially cleared the movie with a runtime of 135.36 minutes on May 8. But on May 20, the producers went back to the board to include some extra footage they had voluntarily added. The CBFC has now passed an extended version that includes eight new scenes. These additions range from short clips to a significant sequence in the first half lasting nearly four minutes. This brings the final runtime of the film to 145.53 minutes, or 2 hours and 25 minutes. This Vivek Soni directorial, produced by Karan Johar and Dharma Productions, is looking to attract a wide audience with a very aggressive pricing strategy on its opening day. As previously shared by Bollywood Hungama, tickets for all shows on May 22 before 5:00 PM are priced at just 149 rupees. For evening shows starting after 5:00 PM, the price will be a flat 199 rupees. This move is clearly intended to boost the initial footfalls across the country. This has resulted in a gross of approximately 64.20 lakh rupees from these chains alone, with PVR contributing 31.60 lakh, INOX adding 20.85 lakh, and Cinepolis bringing in 11.75 lakh. Despite the release being just around the corner, advance bookings in several Mumbai theaters and other regions faced some minor delays. The change in runtime forced theater programmers to restructure their show schedules at the last minute to accommodate the longer version. Additionally, exhibitors have noted that the unexpected success of the Marathi film Deool Band 2 has created a bit of a scheduling challenge in certain pockets where it is performing exceptionally well. While most cinemas have now opened their bookings, the team behind Chand Mera Dil has reportedly been very flexible with exhibitors regarding the show counts. Variety India has exclusively reported that the discussions for the domestic distribution rights are heating up, with the country's top distribution houses now competing to secure a deal for this epic project. Variety India has revealed that major players like Dharma Productions, AA Films, and Pen Studios are currently in talks with producer Namit Malhotra. However, what has truly sent shockwaves through the industry is the staggering asking price. Reports suggest that the producers are seeking a record-breaking 450 crore rupees for the Hindi theatrical distribution rights alone. To put this into perspective, the current record for a Hindi film distribution deal belongs to Shah Rukh Khan's upcoming film King, which was recently acquired for approximately 250 crore. If Namit Malhotra secures even 300 or 400 crore, it would set a massive new benchmark that the industry has never seen before. While distributors like Anil Thadani and Jayantilal Gada are reportedly urging for a more commercially viable price, the producers seem firm on their valuation. Mumbai, May 21 - Director Prashanth Neel has now clarified his upcoming plans, putting an end to speculation surrounding both Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryaanga Parvam and K.G.F: Chapter 3. In a recent interview, Neel had stated that Jr. NTR-fronted Dragon would be his final film in the post-independence hyper-stylised apocalyptic mass-action genre. The statement quickly sparked assumptions online that the filmmaker had dropped plans for both Salaar 2 and KGF 3. However, Neel has now cleared the air in his latest interaction with Variety. The filmmaker confirmed that Prabhas-led Salaar 2 will indeed be his next directorial venture after he completes Dragon. This overseas campaign, spearheaded by Phars Film, has seen Suriya shatter his own personal records in almost every major territory. The film now stands as his biggest grosser in the Middle East, the UK, Europe, and North America, excluding the Telugu version of his earlier film 24. The dominance extends to Australia as well, where it has become his highest-grossing release in just four days. Furthermore, the movie secured his biggest-ever opening weekends in both Malaysia and Singapore. The Middle East has emerged as the strongest fortress for the film. In its opening weekend alone, Karuppu collected 1.10 million dollars, which translates to approximately 10.5 crore rupees. This is now the biggest grosser for Suriya in the region.
