A Sequel To Tamil Blockbuster '96' In Development
Chennai, November 28 - Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha Krishnan's romantic drama 96 has been one of the most loved Tamil movies in recent times, not just in the original version but also the dubbed versions have been widely appreciated.
Released in 2018, the film was a box-office blockbuster and received for its heartwarming writing and performances by the lead pair. 96 was also remade in Telugu and Kannada with different titles and now, the news is that the sequel of the film is in development with the original cast and crew.
According to Venkatramanan, C. Prem Kumar is set to return to direct the sequel with Govind Vasantha also returning to score the music. Dawn Pictures will produce the film and is expected to roll out next year. More details about the project will be revealed soon.
The original movie revolves around the reunion of former students from the batch of 1996, twenty-two years after their graduation. The reunion also serves as an opportunity for two former lovers, Ram (Vijay Sethupathi and Jaanu (Trisha Krishnan), to resolve issues surrounding their separation which led to an emotional roller coaster ride.
