Akshay Kumar's 'Soorarai Pottru' Remake Postponed To February 2024
Mumbai, July 7 - The Hindi remake of the Tamil movie "Soorarai Pottru" has been pushed to the next year. Directed by Sudha Kongara, the Hindi remake stars Akshay Kumar in the lead role alongside Radhika Madan and Paresh Rawal in prominent roles.
Produced by Suriya and Jyothia's 2D Entertainment in association with Vikram Malhotra's Abundantia Entertainment and Cape of Good Films, the Hindi remake was supposed to release on September 1st this year, but now it will be hitting cinemas on February 16, 2024.
There have been rumors that it would be a direct OTT release as a limited series but the makers have stuck to the conventional theatrical release. The movie has a cameo role of Suriya who headlined the original Tamil movie and won critical acclaim upon its direct-to-digital release on Amazon Prime Video.
The story of the original movie featured a small-town man who dreams of starting his own airline. This ex-air force pilot fights the odds to realize his dream and in the process ends up experiencing a business adventure of a lifetime.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up to release his much-awaited social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" on August 11 this year. It also stars Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam in the leading roles while Amit Rai directs it.
