'Avengers: Endgame' Directors Russo Brothers Heap Praise On 'RRR' And SS Rajamouli

Mumbai, July 30 - Hollywood filmmakers, Joe and Anthony Russo, popularly known as Russo Brothers, have showered praise on India's biggest filmmaker SS Rajamouli and his recent global blockbuster 'RRR' movie. Russo Brothers were recently in India for the promotion of "The Gray Man" and they had a virtual meeting with Rajamouli as the trio set on to discuss their love for cinema.

All three directors assert that action is the most broadly appealing genre to base their narratives on, despite their shared belief that movies should be anchored in emotion, which Rajamouli refers to as "the basement on which you can create this great extravaganza".



Speaking about "RRR", Joe Russo said, "What I think is so amazing about [RRR] is the emotion it evokes, combined with the spectacle and this makes it perfectly done epic". The duo also took to social media and shared that it was an honor to meet the great SS Rajamouli.

SS Rajamouli, meanwhile, said that he never expected such huge popularity for "RRR" among western audiences and said that he was taken aback by how it was received there. "Everyone enjoys a good narrative, but I didn't expect I could make movies for everyone, or acquire a grip over the Western sensibilities", Rajamouli added.

"RRR" made over 1120 crores worldwide at the box office before it started streaming on Netflix (Hindi) and ZEE5 (South languages). On Netflix, "RRR" is the most-watched Indian film with over 60 million viewing hours with subtitles in 15 other languages.
