BCCI Announces Huge 125 Crore Prize Money For Team India Following T20 World Cup Victory

Mumbai, June 30 - Following Team India's triumph in the T20 World Cup final, the Honorary Secretary at the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Jay Shah has announced prize money of INR 125 crores for the team for winning the tournament.

Jay Shah took to X to announce the massive remuneration for players and coaching staff. "I am pleased to announce prize money of INR 125 Crores for Team India for winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The team has showcased exceptional talent, determination, and sportsmanship throughout the tournament. Congratulations to all the players, coaches, and support staff for this outstanding achievement!"

Team India, led by captain Rohit Sharma and head coach Rahul Dravid, defeated South Africa in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados on June 29. It was India's second T20 World Cup title and 4th World Cup title overseas (2 ODI World Cup).

The T20 World Cup win also ended the team drought in the ICC tournament. Before this, the last time India won an ICC trophy was in 2013 when the team won the Champions Trophy after England in the final. After 2013 CT, the team came close to the ICC title on many occasions across formats but couldn't cross the line until the T20 World Cup 2024.
