Blockbuster 'Drishyam' Franchise To Be Remade In Hollywood
Mumbai, February 29 - The blockbuster Indian suspense thriller film franchise Drishyam is set to be remade in the English language. India's Panorama Studios has joined hands with U.S. companies Gulfstream Pictures and JOAT Films to bring the movie to Hollywood.
Drishaym was originally made in Malayalam language, starring superstar Mohanlal in the lead role. It was remade in Hindi with Ajay Devgn and Tabu in the lead roles in 2015 and later, a sequel in both languages released in 2021 and 2022, respectively.
Panorama Studios produced the Hindi version and also acquired the international remake rights to Drishyam 1 & 2 from the original producers, Aashirvad Cinemas. The studio has already announced a Korean-language remake of the film in 2023 and is close to finalising a deal to remake the movie in Spanish-language.
"Drishyam's clever narrative has a universal appeal and we are keen to celebrate this story with audiences worldwide. After Korea and Hollywood, our mission is to produce Drishyam in 10 countries in the next three to five years", said Kumar Mangat Pathak, Panorama's chairman and MD (via Variety).
The film follows the struggle of an ordinary man and his family, who come under suspicion when an IG's son goes missing and he does unthinkable to protect his family.
