CM Punk Officially Announces Injury, Will Miss This Year's WrestleMania
Two months into his electrifying WWE return, CM Punk's sights were firmly set on one target: headlining WrestleMania. He'd been trading barbs with rivals like Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, and even Cody Rhodes, all building towards that ultimate showdown. The Royal Rumble was supposed to be his launchpad, where he entered at #27 and battled his way to the final two before succumbing to eventual winner Cody Rhodes.
But fate had other plans. News broke after the Rumble that Punk had suffered a torn tricep, potentially sidelining him for 4-6 months after surgery. Tonight on RAW, he addressed the WWE Universe, starting by acknowledging and congratulating Cody on his Rumble victory.
Then came the blow. Punk revealed the tricep tear, dashing his WrestleMania dreams. He brushed it off as a "flesh wound," vowing to bounce back, but admitted WrestleMania 40 was out of reach. "There's always next year," he reassured the fans.
Enter Drew McIntyre, his arrival punctuated by a bombshell confession: he'd prayed for Punk's downfall, and his prayers were answered. He even admitted sleeping soundly after hearing about the injury. Drew declared his own intention to snatch Punk's dream, vowing to main event WrestleMania "again."
Punk fired back, promising his return to WrestleMania glory, but with a detour: Drew McIntyre. A brawl erupted, with Punk trying to retaliate against Drew's sneak attack. McIntyre landed a brutal Glasgow Kiss before stomping Punk's injured arm. Just as things were heating up, Sami Zayn's music hit, sending McIntyre scrambling out of the ring.
