The first of Ayan's Brahmastra trilogy, "Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva", has been in production since February 2018. It was originally announced for a 2019 release but the delay in production pushed it further. The covid-19 pandemic further pushed shooting and release plans. The makers recently announced that the movie will now be released in theaters worldwide on September 9, 2022, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, in standard formats, 3D, and IMAX 3D.
The first look motion posters of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were recently unveiled. The film apparently is set in two timeframes. The main story is set in present times where Shiva, a young man with superpowers travels 3000 years back in time to the pre-Mahabharatha era to learn about weapons like Brahmastra in order to fulfill a mission in the present time.
Produced by Fox Star Studios, Dharma Productions, Prime Focus, and Starlight Pictures, the movie is seen as game-changing in the Hindi cinema with never-seen-before VFX scenes.
