Fans watching the March 1st, 2024 edition of WWE SmackDown were left confused by several instances where the screen went black for a few seconds during The Rock's segment.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider.com has revealed the reason behind these blackouts: a fan holding a "DIE ROCKY DIE" sign.

The network deemed the sign necessary to censor due to its reference to The Rock's controversial "Die Rocky Die" chants from his early wrestling career. Despite his immense success, such references can still elicit strong reactions, prompting the network to take action.

This wasn't the only instance of censorship during the broadcast. In an effort to maintain a family-friendly viewing experience and adhere to network standards, the audio was also muted at certain points due to profane chants from the audience. This is a common practice in live television broadcasts.
