Durgamati Review: Audience Call Bhumi Pednekar Starrer Disappointing

The much-awaited horror thriller film, Durgamati: The Myth starring Bhumi Pednekar finally premiered on Amazon Prime Video on December 11. The movie is directed by G. Ashok and is an official remake of his own Telugu-Tamil bilingual film Bhaagamathie which starred Anushka Shetty in the lead role.

While the expectations were high from Durgamati (earlier titled Durgavati), the Hindi remake of Bhaagamathie couldn't reprise the magic which the original film had. Produced by Bhushan Kumar, Akshay Kumar, and Vikram Malhotra, Durgamati has been disappointing largely because it failed to scare people which is its joner. It also stars Arshad Warsi, Jisshu Sengupta, and Mahie Gill in the key roles.

Bhumi Pednekar and Arshad Warsi's #Durgamati is not even half as good as Anushka Shetty's #Bhaagamathie... Bhumi tries so hard to match Anushka that it's clearly visible but she still falls flat.. Found this remake weaker than even the Hindi dubbed version of the original! 👎

#DurgamatiReview when the directors will realise the difference in screenplay, editing, dialogues etc. Differences in South Indian movies and Hindi cinema. Durgamati is another failed attempt same as #laxmibomb. Complete wastage of money and hardwork (if anyone ever did in movie)
