Dwayne Johnson Confirms The Sequel To Disney's Adventure Movie 'Jungle Cruise'
Los Angeles, August 30, 2021: After Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt led the adventure movie "Jungle Cruise" crossed the $100 million marks at the domestic box office, Disney is officially working on its sequel.
Based on the theme park ride, the sequel will see Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt returning to reprise their roles as the pun-obsessed riverboat captain Frank Wolff and the brave explorer Dr. Lily Houghton, respectively. Director Jaume Collet-Serra is also expected to return to helm the sequel.
Michael Green, who co-wrote "Jungle Cruise" with Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, will write the Disney movie one more time. Executive producer Scott Sheldon and producers John Davis, John Fox, Beau Flynn, Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will also return on the sequel.
Delighted on part 2, Dwayne Johnson aka The Rock took to Twitter and shared the news and also expressed his happiness on the movie grossing $100 million figure. "ALL ABOARD. "Jungle Cruise" was launched on July 30, both in theaters and on Disney Plus Premier Access, for an additional price tag of $30. In the opening weekend, the movie grossed $35 million at the domestic box office $30 million from Disney Plus, the company announced.
Despite the surge in the covid-19 cases in the US, "Jungle Cruise" continued to score big and in its fifth week, it officially becomes the only 5th movie to cross the $100 million mark at the North America box office. At the worldwide box office, its total is $187 million.
Audiences have given the movie an A- Cinemascore, and it has garnered a 92 percent score on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes.
