FWICE Felicitate Rohit Shetty And Celebrate Sooryavanshi Success At A Special Function

Mumbai, November 13 - The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has expressed its gratitude towards filmmaker Rohit Shetty for helping the cine workers during the covid-19 crisis and also celebrated the blockbuster success of Shetty's "Sooryavanshi" at a special function in Mumbai on Friday (November 12).

BN Tiwari, president of FWICE said, "Rohit was the first one to come out and donate money for the technicians and workers of the film industry. It was only after that, the others came forward to help the workers, whose bank account balance became decent enough to allow them to survive these tough times".



Rohit Shetty said that he was one of the cine workers and added, "We have worked together and will continue to work together in the future". Rohit was on a first-name basis with all junior artists, dancers, and technicians, who were present at the celebration and felicitation function.

Filmmaker Ashoke Pandit who moderated the felicitation function praised Shetty for waiting so long to release his "Sooryavanshi" in theaters, which was supposed to release in March 2020, before the covid-19 trapped the entire nation. "Rohit's Sooryavanshi has chased Corona away. It is obvious from the crowds of audiences that have come out and watched his film, after nearly two years", said Pandit.

"It is Rohit's conviction, patience, and talent that has paid off and 'Sooryavanshi' has crossed the Rs 150 crore mark. The success of his film has brought smiles to the worker's faces, as there is hope for them that we will surely be back to the old days very soon", he added.



Actor Anupam Kher, who was invited to felicitate Rohit Shetty, said, "Rohit Shetty's name has gone down in the history of cinema, but as a good human being and it will take a while for someone else to go beyond what he has done". Kher who is known to be witty added, "Next time, it may be my chance to be felicitated because I am getting a feeling that I may be part of Rohit's next film".

The veteran actor also took to social media and shared a slow-motion video with Shetty and wrote, "It was wonderful to felicitate the one & only #RohitShetty on behalf of the workers & various associations of our film industry for the success of #Sooryavanshi. How could I not make a slow mo video with the king of entertainment. Thank you @ashokepandit for the opportunity!".

"Sooryavanshi", which stars Akshay Kumar in the title role along with Ajay Devgn, Ranveer Singh, and Katrina Kaif, was released on November 5 and took a great start at the box office. It earned a massive Rs. 120 crores in the opening week and looking strong to reach the 200 crores mark.
