Filmmaker Karan Malhotra Breaks His Silence On 'Shamshera' Criticism
Mumbai, July 27 - Yet another Yash Raj Films production bites the dust as period action drama "Shamshera" failed to make any impact at the box office. The film, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor, was largely hit by the poor reviews from critics.
Karan Malhotra directed this biggie which is his 3rd directorial. While his first two films "Agneepath" (2012), and "Brothers" (2015) were commercially successful, the latest film couldn't extend his winning run as it crashed, earning approx. 37 crores net 5 days.
Opening up on the failure of the film, Karan Malhotra has penned a note referring to the character of the film played by Ranbir. While the filmmaker apologies for not speaking up till now, he seems to have been affected by the hate and rage targetting at him and the star cast. Under the hashtag #Shamsheraismine, the filmmaker takes blame for the criticism movie is receiving.
"My withdrawal was my weakness and there are no excuses for it. But now I am here, standing beside you hand in hand feeling proud and honored that you are mine. Will face everything together, the good the bad, and the ugly. The love, the blessings, and the concern that have been showered upon us are the most precious and nobody can take that away from us", Malhotra said in the note.
