Indian women crush Thailand women to gain top spot in Asia cup
It was another dominating performance by Indian women as they crushed Thailand women by 66 runs in women's Asia Cup on Monday, June 4. With this win, Indian women reached on top in the points table. In their first match, they assaulted Malaysia women by 142 runs.
In this match, Thailand won the toss and put India to bat first. Indian women batted well and scored 132 in 20 overs. Mona Meshram was the top scorer with 32 off 45 balls while Smriti Mandhana made 29 off 22 balls with 2 sixes and a four.
Later in the inning, captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Anuja Patil scored quickly and help India to put a good score to defend.
Thailand's Wongpaka Liengprasert was the most successful bowler as she gave away only 16 runs in 3 overs and picked 2 wickets.
In reply, Thailand women looked nowhere in the runs chase and could manage only 66 for 8 in 20 overs. Nattaya Boochatham was the top scorer with 21 of 40 balls.
Their 8 batters could not cross 2-digit mark. Indian bowling was outstanding. Skipper Harmanpreet was most successful bowler as she conceded only 11 runs in 3 overs and picked 3 wickets.
She was also judged Player Of The Match for her all-around show. Anuja Patil was the most economical bowler of the match as she gave away only 3 runs in 3 overs.
India's next match will be against Bangladesh women on Wednesday, June 6.
