Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur's War Drama 'Pippa' Postponed To 2024?
Mumbai, February 27 - Back in 2020, producer Ronnie Screwvala and Siddharth Roy Kapur came together to announce the war drama movie Pippa, starring Ishaan Khattar and Mrunal Thakur in the lead roles.
"Airlift" director Raja Krishna Menon helmed the movie, based on the book The Burning Chaffees by Balram Singh Mehta who fought during the Indo-Pak war in 1971. Khattar has played the role of Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta.
The movie was originally announced to release in 2021, before makers postponed it to December 2, 2022, due to the covid-19 pandemic which delayed the shoot. When it was looking on track for December 2022 release, the makers postponed it again due to an unknown reason and they are yet to lock the new release date.
The makers are eyeing only theatrical release as the film is made for the big screen. Now, according to the latest reports, "Pippa" won't be released anytime soon, and there are chances it will only release in 2024 on the silver screen.
According to PeepingMoon, "Pippa" has returned to the editing table as the final product failed to match the criteria required to get a go-ahead from the producers. Considering it is an 85-crore project, the makers are reworking on it to make it appealing to a wider audience.
The film takes its title from the Russian amphibious war tank called the PT-76, popularly known as Pippa. It also stars Priyanshu Painyuli and Soni Razdan in prominent roles.
