James Gunn Hints At A DC-Marvel Crossover In The Future
Los Angeles, April 7 - It has been a dream of Superhero fans to see the superheroes of DC Universe and Marvel teaming up one day. It is a question that can't be answered by any other than someone who has worked in both camps closely, and that is maverick filmmaker James Gunn who is also now the co-head of DC Studios.
In comics, the characters of DC and Marvel have crossed each other's paths such as Spider-Man teamed with Superman and Batman, The Hulk battled Batman, and even the Silver Surfer met Superman, among others.
Now, according to James Gunn, the crossover of these superheroes is not a far-fetched dream, especially since he is now in charge at DC Studio. However, this is not gonna happen anytime soon but definitely someday or maybe before his tenure ends.
In their latest issue, Empire quoted (via Deadline) Gunn's take on the matches as a definite maybe. "I'm certain that's more likely now that I'm in charge [at DC]", Gunn told the magazine, "Who knows?" However, "That's many years away, though. I think we have to establish what we're doing [at DC] first".
The filmmaker further said that they have discussed the crossover films of DC and Marvel "but all discussions have been very, very light and fun".
Meanwhile, James Gunn is currently busy with the promotion of his last Marvel project (at least for now) "Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3" which is slated to release on May 5. He will next direct DC's "Superman: Legacy" which opens in July 2025.
