John Abraham To Team Up With Director Rohit Shetty

Mumbai, February 1 - Director Rohit Shetty has had mixed results post the COVID-19 pandemic. While his Sooryavanshi was a box-office success, Cirkus turned into a massive disaster and Singham Again, which was released on Diwali last year, didn't live up to the high expectations despite grossing over 350 crores worldwide.

The maverick filmmaker has now reportedly decided to take a break from his blockbuster cop universe and is likely to direct a standalone action thriller film next with Bollywood star John Abraham other than comedy entertainer Golmaal 5 for which the script has reportedly been locked.



According to the report by Mid-Day, Shetty began developing the script for a standalone action thriller after the release of Singham Again and a few preliminary meetings with John have already taken place. The report states that if things go as planned, the movie might go on floors by April this year and a final call will be taken by March.

If the project materializes, it would be Shetty and John's first collaboration. The duo has reportedly discussed the dates as Shetty plans to shoot for the movie in Mumbai in a straight schedule over 45 days this summer, after which, the director will shoot for the TV reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi 15.

John Abraham, meanwhile, will next be seen in a thriller film, The Diplomat which said is based on true events. The movie, directed by Shivam Nair, is scheduled to be released on March 7. He also has Tehran and Tariq in the post-production stage.
