Kangana Ranaut's 'Emergency' Release Date Postponed
Mumbai, September 1 - Kangana Ranaut-fronted biographical drama film Emergency is set to be postponed from September 6. The movie, directed and headlined by Kangana, has been facing issues since the trailer was launched recently.
Yesterday, Kangana shared a video stating that the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has stalled the censor certificate amid threats and demanding major cuts. While the official announcement has yet to be made, it is said that the movie has been postponed as it is yet to get a censor certificate.
Emergency has been in the news for quite some time now. As reported earlier, there have been calls for banning the film for allegedly defaming the Sikh community which also led to death threats to the actress.
Produced by Manikarnika Films in association with Zee Studios, the movie is based on the true events of The Emergency in India, a 21-month period from 1975 to 1977 when Prime Minister Indira Gandhi had a state of emergency across the country by citing internal and external threats to the country.
The film stars Ranaut as the former Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi along with Anupam Kher, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, Mahima Chaudhry, Milind Soman, and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles as the different political figures.
A new release date is yet to be announced.
