Lara Dutta Is 'Thankful' For Playing Indira Gandhi In Bell Bottom
Mumbai, August 4, 2021: Actress Lara Dutta is all set to take the audience by surprise in the upcoming espionage thriller film, "Bell Bottom". The actress is playing the former prime minister of India, the late Indira Gandhi in the film, led by superstar Akshay Kumar.
Talking about playing Indira Gandhi in the film, Dutta called it an opportunity of a lifetime and great responsibility to portray an iconic figure on the big screen.
"It is a great responsibility when you portray someone who's an iconic figure like Mrs. Gandhi. It was very important to get her body language right", Lara Dutta said at the 'Bell Bottom' trailer launch on Tuesday.
Bell Bottom, directed by Ranjit Tewari, is set in 1984, the year that saw Operation Bluestar as well as Mrs. Gandhi's assassination. The film is about a hijack that took place during Mrs. Gandhi's tenure.
"Given the dramatic events that were unfolding, she was extremely centered. It was important therefore to portray her in that way. As a result, a lot of homework and research went into the role. It was an opportunity I am very thankful for", concluded Lara.
Produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, Deepshikha Deshmukh, Monisha Advani, Madhu Bhojwani, and Nikkhil Advani under the banners of Pooja Entertainment and Emmay Entertainment, the movie also stars Vaani Kapoor and Huma Qureshi in key roles. It is scheduled to release on August 19 in theaters worldwide.
