Main Reason Why 12/1 WWE SmackDown Viewership Was Lower Than Usual
Stamford, December 7 - WWE consistently strategizes to enhance the quality of their shows, prioritizing the delivery of an unparalleled product for fans week after week. However, the recent shockingly low viewership of SmackDown on December 1st had a notable explanation.
The live broadcast of the December 1st episode emanated from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY, offering fans a post-Survivor Series aftermath and the aftermath of intense WarGames matches. The return of United States Champion Logan Paul marked a significant segment, unveiling a new United States tournament. Additionally, the blue brand witnessed the much-anticipated return of Randy Orton, solidifying an exclusive deal with SmackDown.
Despite these engaging elements, the episode garnered an overnight average viewership of 2,044,000, accompanied by a 0.59 rating in the coveted P18-49 demographic. This figure surprised fans, constituting SmackDown's lowest total viewership on Fox since August 2022.
Dave Meltzer, in his analysis on Wrestling Observer Radio, shed light on the reasons behind the lower viewership on December 1st compared to typical weeks. He pointed out that the Oregon-Washington NFL game, taking place on Friday, drew a significant portion of SmackDown's regular viewership, contributing to the unexpected dip in ratings.
