'Mirzapur' Series To Be Adapted Into Theatrical Film; Cast Details Revealed
Mumbai, October 28 - In a landmark move, Amazon Prime Video's hit crime thriller web series Mirzapur is set to be adapted into a theatrical film. Amazon MGM Studios and Excel Entertainment will produce it.
The series explores power dynamics and the criminal underworld in the heartland of northern India. The theatrical adaptation, set to debut in 2026, is one of the first instances when a major streaming product is being made into a theatrical film.
The film will feature the return of the show's principal cast, including Pankaj Tripathi as Kaleen Bhaiya, Ali Fazal as Guddu Pandit, and Divyenndu as Munna Tripathi. Abhishek Banerjee is also confirmed to reprise his role as the Compounder.
In another significant move, the film will start streaming on Amazon Prime Video only after 8-weeks of theatrical release. It will be directed by Gurmmeet Singh, who has previously directed 17 episodes of the series and written by Puneet Krishna.
