Nagraj Manjule Speaks About Directing Megastar Amitabh Bachchan
Mumbai, March 2 - The blockbuster Sairaat director Nagraj Manjule is all set to make his debut in the Hindi cinemas with Jhund which is slated to release this Friday. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of a professor who motivates the street children to form a football team.
In a chat with Mid-Day, the filmmaker revealed why he decided to make the film in Hindi and work with Amitabh Bachchan. Nagraj Manjule also revealed that he was a huge fan of Amitabh Bachchan and had seen almost all his films in theatres.
When asked about working with Big B, Nagraj Manjule admits he was star struck. Remembering his first meeting with the megastar, the Sairat maker said, “I’ve been a huge fan since I was a kid. But as a director, I knew I couldn’t be starry-eyed. I had to remind myself that I am making a movie with him".
Jhund is an upcoming Indian Hindi-language biographical sports film based on the life of Vijay Barse, the founder of NGO Slum Soccer. The film starring Amitabh Bachchan, Akash Thosar, and Rinku Rajguru is written and directed by Nagraj Manjule.
