Netflix Announces Post-Theatrical Streaming Telugu Films In 2024
Hyderabad, January 15 - Netflix has acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of some of the biggest Telugu Pan-Indian films in 2024 and beyond. The streamer has been putting efforts to make a mark in the Indian digital space and its upcoming South Indian slate is the first major push.
The biggest film Netflix has acquired is the upcoming Pan India movie Pushpa - The Rule. Starring superstar Allu Arjun, the action drama film is scheduled to release theatrically on August 15, 2024, in multiple languages and it is likely to be available on Netflix after an 8-week theatrical window in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil.
Superstar Jr. NTR's action drama Devara - Part 1, directed by Koratala Siva, is another big Telugu Pan India film acquired by Netflix after its theatrical release, which is on April 5. The movie, just like Pushpa 2, is expected to be ready to stream after 8 weeks of the theatrical window in Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tamil.
Director Prashanth Neel and superstar Prabhas' Salaar: Part 1 - Ceasefire, which was released during Christmas 2023 weekend, will also be streaming on Netflix soon. The movie has emerged as a big box office success with a worldwide gross collection of over 600 crores. Netflix will stream it in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, and Tamil language.
The line-up also includes Vijay Deverakonda's untitled action drama film VD 12, directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri. The theatrical release date of the movie is not locked yet. Veteran Nandamuri Balakrishna's untitled action drama NBK 109, directed by Bobby will also be streaming on Netflix after its theatrical run.
Other films on Netflix's Telugu slate are Sithara Entertainments' Tillu Square a sequel to 2022 hit "DJ Tillu", starring Siddhu, Studio Green's Buddy, starring Allu Sirish; Sithara Entertainments' Gangs of Godavari starring Vishwak Sen, GA2 Pictures' Production No. 9, and UV Creations' Production 12, starring Kartikeya Gummakonda.
All of the upcoming Telugu films announced by Netflix will first be released in theatres before they become available for streaming in the original languages, along with other dubbed versions.
