Dulquer Salmaan's Malayalam Box Office Blockbuster 'Kurup' To Premiere On Netflix Soon

Kochi, December 11 - Dulquer Salmaan's patience and trust in the crime drama film "Kurup" paid off big-time as it is turned out to be 3rd highest-grossing Malayalam movie of all time. Due to the continuous delay in the release date caused by the covid-19 pandemic and restrictions of theaters, "Kurup" was reportedly gearing for a direct OTT release, but the makers later changed the plans and gave it a theatrical shot.





While the official box office collection hasn't been revealed by the makers, the Srinath Rajendran-directed has comfortably crossed Rs. 80 crores worldwide gross, which makes it the highest-grossing film for Salmaan. It is only behind Mohanlal starring blockbusters, Lucifer and Pulimurugan, to have a such large collection in Malayalam.





Meanwhile, after its blockbuster run at the box office, "Kurup" is gearing up for its second innings run on OTT. Netflix, which originally has tried to bad direct release, will be premiering the film soon. While the official date is yet not revealed by the streamer, it looks like the movie will come out on Netflix after 5 to 6 weeks of the theatrical run.





Based on the life of India's most wanted fugitive Sukumara Kurup who is absconding since 1984, "Kurup" is the first Indian film to have non-fungible token (NFT) collectibles. It features an ensemble cast including Indrajith Sukumaran, Sobhita Dhulipala, Shine Tom Chacko, Sunny Wayne, Bharath Srinivasan, Shivajith, Surabhi Lakshmi, Vijayaraghavan, and Tovino Thomas in the supporting roles. It is produced by Wayfarer Films and M Star Entertainments. Apart from Salmaan.





Meanwhile, Dulquer Salmaan has multiple films coming up irrespective of language. His upcoming film "Salute", which is a cop-action thriller film, is also a Malayalam film. Apart from this, he has Tamil film "Hey Sinamika", "Yuddham Tho Rasina Prema Katha" in Telugu, and multistarrer "Chup: Revenge Of The Artist" in Hindi.
