Olympic Champ Gable Steveson Impresses In Wrestling Comeback Ahead Of WWE In-Ring Debut
Amateur wrestling fans were in for a treat this week as Gable Steveson, the highly-touted WWE signee, returned to the mat for the US Men’s Freestyle Open in Las Vegas, Nevada.
With an impressive display of dominance, Steveson outscored his opponents 44-1, earning four separate victories and advancing to the Final X in Newark, NJ, which takes place next month. In his semi-final bout, he faced off against fellow standout wrestler Mason Parris, whom he bested with a commanding score of 12-1.
Steveson, who won an Olympic gold medal in Tokyo last year, has made it known that he is eager to represent Team USA at the 2024 Olympic Games. However, before he can set his sights on the international stage, he must first make his much-anticipated in-ring debut for WWE.
Despite signing with the company in September 2021 and being drafted to the Raw brand in October of that year, Steveson has yet to wrestle for the promotion, save for a brief physical altercation with former Olympian Chad Gable at WrestleMania 38 in April 2022.
