Ranbir Kapoor Confirms To Headline Nitesh Tiwari's 'Ramayana'; Shoot Begins In March 2024
Mumbai, December 13 - Ranbir Kapoor is on cloud nine after the mega-blockbuster success of his action drama Animal which has crossed 750 crores at the worldwide box office in just 12 days. It has become his highest-grossing film and put him in the elite league of superstars.
The "Brahmastra" star has now reportedly confirmed his next film and the preparations for the same are said to have begun. It is known to everyone that Ranbir has been in talks with director Nitesh Tiwari to headline epic Ramayana but there was no official confirmation from the makers yet until yesterday when the actor himself reportedly confirmed the development.
According to a claim made by an X/Twitter user, the Bollywood star has confirmed Ramayana as his next film. Ranbir will be playing the role of lord Ram while Telugu actress Sai Pallavi is roped in for the role of Sita. Kannada superstar Yash to play Raavan in this mega-budgeted epic.
The film is planned as a trilogy and the first film will go on floors by March next year with Ranbir and Sai Pallavi, according to Pinkvilla. Yash will reportedly join the shoot by July. He has an extended appearance in "Ramayana: Part 1", which is more of a story building of Ram and Sita.
The world of Ramayana has been designed by Oscar Winning VFX company, DNEG and the makers intend to introduce a new technology of filmmaking with Ramayana, and the entire test run of the shoot has been conducted multiple times. As reported earlier, Sunny Deol is in talks to play the role of Lord Hanuman in the film.
The film will be produced by Madhu Mantena, Namit Malhotra, and Allu Arvind. The pre-production work has been going on for a long time and the official announcement will be made soon and the first part of the film will be hitting worldwide theaters in the second half of 2025.
