Riteish Deshmukh Announces His Next Big Directorial Feature After Blockbuster 'Ved'
Mumbai, February 19 - Actor-filmmaker Riteish Deshmukh made his directorial debut with the Marathi romantic drama film "Ved" in 2022 and it went on to become one of the biggest Marathi grossers of all time with a gross collection of over 70 crores.
Ved garnered massive praise for Riteish Deshmukh's direction and now, he has announced his next big directorial feature. On Monday, the filmmaker took to social media and confirmed that he would be helming a film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, titled Raja Shivaji.
The movie will be produced by Genelia Deshmukh under the banner of Mumbai Film Company in association with Jio Studios. Ajay-Atul will score music for the movie while multiple national award winner Santosh Sivan will crank the camera for the same.
"Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj is not just a name but an emotion. On the auspicious occasion of his birth anniversary, I join you in paying homage to the great son of the soil. May his legacy continue to inspire us for generations to come. We seek your blessings as we begin our new journey. Jai Shivrai!!", Riteish said.
Just like his directorial debut Ved, in which Riteish also played the lead role with Genelia as the female lead, the actor will be stepping in to headline Raja Shivaji as well. It will be a bilingual movie in Marathi and Hindi and the shoot for the same will commence soon for 2025 release.
