SS Rajamouli Reveals What He Liked Most About Ayan Mukerji's Dream Film 'Brahmastra'
Chennai, August 26 - Filmmaker Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus, that is Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva, is nearing its release and the excitement for the same is building up. It has been one of the most-anticipated Indian movies of the year and its chances got a major boost with SS Rajamouli coming on board to present the Telugu version.
SS Rajamouli has been the most loved and respected filmmaker across the country, thanks to his barrier-breaking films Baahubali series and RRR. Rajamouli's trust in Brahmastra comes at a time when the Boycott Bollywood trend is at its peak and threatening every Bollywood film coming it's way. The filmmaker has been roped in to do some damage control.
However, it is not that Rajamouli decided to come on board to just support the world Ayan Mukerji has created in fantasy actioner. During the recent press meet in Chennai while promoting the film, Rajamouli lauded the commercial way of telling Hindu Gods' astras which have been in our stories while growing up.
"Ayan dreamt about creating a world that we have never seen before - the magnificent world of astras that we have learnt from our history, our Puranas. As children, we heard about these astras but have never seen their splendour", the filmmaker said.
SS Rajamouli further revealed what he liked the most about the movie that made him part of it and present it to the Telugu audiences. "Creating a world that Ayan has created is not easy. Ayan has created a power that still has some limits. He provided the scope to create a bigger villain and also created a scope for the struggle for good to win over evil. It is not like a fairy tale. It is like a commercial way of telling the story of astras. This is what I like about Brahmastra".
"Ayan made sure that among all the astras, including 'Vanara Astra', 'Agni Astra', 'Jalastra' and 'Brahmastra' - love is the strongest. Not just telling this fact in dialogues, he made sure that his point comes across. That love will win over everything", he added.
"Brahmastra Part One: Shiva" intended to serve as the first film in a planned trilogy as part of its own cinematic universe called Astraverse. The movie stars Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in the prominent roles. Produced by Dharma Productions, Starlight Pictures, and Prime Focus in association with Star Studios, the movie will be released on September 9 in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam languages.
