Sensational De Villiers Guide RCB To Their Second Win
Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Delhi Daredevils by 6 wickets, after AB De Villiers's sensational innings of 90* off 39 balls, at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bangalore on Saturday (April 21). De Villiers special overshadows Rishabh Pant's brilliant 48-ball 85 (six fours and seven sixes) as RCB registered their second win in 5 games to move up to the fifth spot.
Where DD went wrong?
In the first six overs, where they could only manage 28 runs. After opting for the ball, keeping in mind the possibility of rain and hoping bowlers come up with the disciplined effort. RCB put pressure on DD straightaway by not giving easy runs. With the combination of Spin and Pace, they struggled Daredevils' batsmen with accurate line and lengths. Resulted, DD could only manage to get 28 runs and lost both the openers, Gautam Gambhir and Jason Roy in first six overs. Despite hitting few boundaries, DD struggled to get runs in first 10 overs and could manage only 58 runs.
How DD paced their innings
After losing two wickets in the powerplay, DD needed a solid partnership to get them a fighting total. Rishabh Pant and Shreyas Iyer did exactly same by targeting right bowlers. The duo put on a 75-runs stand between them for the 3rd wicket. After getting counterattacking 52 off 31 balls (4 fours and 3 sixes) Iyer departed in 14th over to Washington Sunder. After the dismissal of Maxwell, Pant decided it was time to change gear. He scored 49 off 17 deliveries between 16th and 20th over and gave Delhi a moral boosting total of 174.
How good was AB De Villiers?
Outstanding! it was all AB De Villiers show at Chinnaswamy Stadium. After the dismissal of De Kock, De Villiers had arrived at the park and he immediately took charge by hitting two fours off first three balls to Shahbaz Nadeem. Having raised his bat for a 24-ball fifty with a six and four to Harshal Patel through mid wicket region, de Villiers kept targeting leg-side fence. He scored 70% of his runs through the leg side. De Villiers hit seven fours and four sixes in his swashbuckling innings and help RCB to chase down the target in 18 overs.
Milestone for De Villiers
De Villiers reached to 3000 runs for RCB. He his third RCB player to reach this milestone after Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle.
