Siddharth Anand Will Not Direct Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan 2': Report

Mumbai, March 30 - Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan scored the biggest blockbuster of his career in the form of spy action thriller Pathaan in January last year. The Yash Raj Films production, directed by Siddharth Anand, grossed around 1050 crores worldwide and was one of the biggest Indian grossers of 2023.

The mighty box office performance of Pathaan had almost confirmed nothing but an inevitable sequel. It was recently reported that YRF has started working on Pathaan 2 with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone returning to reprise their roles from the first movie.



According to the latest report by Peepingmoon.com, the shoot of Pathaan 2 will commence by the end of 2024, however, director Siddharth Anand won't be helming the upcoming movie. It is said that Aditya Chopra is looking to lock in a new director to give a fresh take on the story of Pathaan.

"Aditya Chopra is strategically choosing the directors for each YRF spy universe film and has never repeated directors for its sequel movies, as is evident from the Tiger and War sequels. The tradition continues with Pathaan 2 as well, with Siddharth Anand stepping aside for a new director to offer a fresh perspective to Shah Rukh’s swashbuckling spy character", says the report.

Siddharth Anand has directed Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's YRF Spy Universe film War along with SRK's Pathaan, and he will be returning to direct the biggest film in the Spy Universe, Tiger vs. Pathaan which will start after Pathaan 2.

Shah Rukh Khan, meanwhile, will next be headlining director Sujoy Ghosh's action thriller, tentatively titled King. The movie will also feature SRK's daughter Suhana Khan in her theatrical debut and the shoot for the same is expected to commence in April this year.
