'Spider-Man: Far From Home' Sequel Pushed Back To December 2021
The sequel to Tom Holland's 'Spider-Man: Far From Home' has been postponed to 17 December 2021 after Disney's movie calendar rescheduled.
The movie was originally scheduled to release on 5 November 2021, but Sony announced the move on Thursday night after a shakeup of Disney's film slate was unveiled earlier in the day (as stated by Variety). Now, the sequel of Spider-Man will take place on the date of formerly held Avatar 2, which has been pushed back to December 2022.
It is the third instance when the makers of Spider-Man series have rescheduled the release date. Earlier, the movie was slated to release on 16 July 2021 before Sony had postponed it to 5 November 2021, and now, it has been postponed again.
Sony Pictures also stated that the new release date is for the domestic calendar while its international release date remains in question.
Spider-Man is not the only movie that has been delayed, earlier, MCU's 'Black Widow', DC's 'Wonder Woman 1984', Christopher Nolan's 'Tenet' among the several movies that have been postponed indefinitely.
The release dates of the movie are pushing further because most of the theaters around the world are closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and there seem to be no plans to reopen them safely to a wide audience any time soon.
