Sunny Deol-Led 'Gadar 3' Officially In Development At Zee Studios
Mumbai, January 19 - Sunny Deol as Tara Singh will be returning for the third round after Zee Studios reportedly green-lit the threequel to the mega-blockbuster period action drama franchise, Gadar. It all began in 2021 when Sunny Deol and director Anil Sharma teamed up for "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" which went on to become the biggest Indian blockbuster of that time.
22 years later, the team of Gadar reunited for its sequel, "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" and scripted history with it. The movie went on to gross close to 700 crores at the worldwide box office and became one of the biggest blockbusters of all time. The mega success of Gadar 2 ensured that there would be the third film in the series and it is happening.
Though it was already reported that director Anil Sharma trying the crack the idea Gadar 3, and according to Pinkvilla, the filmmaker has finally locked the basic idea and Zee Studios has green-lit the same. It is said that the first round of paperwork has been done between Zee Studios, Anil Sharma, and Sunny Deol.
The franchise has been set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak conflict and Gadar 3 will follow the same though the stakes will be higher than before. "A lot of writing will happen to develop the idea, but the team has got the direction of where the story of Tara Singh, Sakina, and Jeete heads from here on", the report says.
Director Anil Sharma has himself confirmed the development and said that he would start working on the Gadar 3 script after completing his upcoming film featuring his son Utkarsh Sharma and Nana Patekar. The film is expected to go on floors in the second half of 2025.
Sunny Deol, meanwhile, recently concluded the shooting for his next titled "Safar". He will start director Rajkumar Santoshi's "Lahore 1947" in February and is also in talks to play the role of Hanuman in director Nitesh Tiwari's "Ramayana", followed by the sequel to "Border" later this year.
