Sunny Deol's 'Border 2' Official Release Date Is Locked

Mumbai, June 14 - On the 27th anniversary of the epic war drama Border, filmmaker JP Dutta joined hands with Bhushan Kumar of T-Series to announce its sequel with Sunny Deol returning to reprise the role from the first movie.

Kersari fame Anurag Singh will direct Border 2 which begins filming by the end of this year or early 2025. There have been reports that the movie will be released on Republic Day 2026 and now, the makers have officially confirmed the same.



It has been revealed that India's biggest war movie will be released on January 23 (Friday), 2026, during the Republic Day weekend. It will enjoy the 4-day extended weekend during which it will look to shatter box office records left, right, and centre.

The makers haven't announced the rest of the cast but it is said that Ayushmann Khurrana will play one of the prominent roles. The makers have planned to make Border 2 on a grand scale and have a vision to make it the biggest war drama film in Indian cinema.

Meanwhile, Sunny Deol will next be seen in the period drama, Lahore 1947, which is said to be based on Asghar Wajahat's acclaimed Punjabi play, "Jis Lahore Nai Dekhya O Jamyai Nai". The actor reunited with director Rajkumar Santoshi for the first time since, Ghatak (1996). Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Lahore 1947 will be released next year.
