Suresh Raina Joins MS Dhoni To Retire From International Cricket
A minutes after former India captain and two-time world cup winner, MS Dhoni retired from International cricket, Suresh Raina has joined him to bid goodbye to the International cricket. The CSK allrounder, like his captain, made it official in an Instagram post.
"It was nothing but lovely playing with you, @mahi7781. With my heart full of pride, I choose to join you in this journey. Thank you India. Jai Hind!", he wrote, shortly after the former India skipper hung up his boots.
Suresh Raina whose last appearance in ODI cricket came against England in 2018 has played most of his international cricket under the leadership of MS Dhoni and had represented India in 226 ODIs and scored 5615 runs at an average of 35.31 with 5 hundred and 36 half-centuries.
In T20Is, Raina played 78 matches and scored 1604 runs with the strike rate of 134.79. He was the first Indian to score a century in T20Is. In this format, he scored 5 half-centuries along with a lone hundred.
Raina also represented India in the longest format as well in which he played 18 matches and scored 768 runs. He scored a century that came against Sri Lanka in his debut test. He also scored 7 half-centuries. His last Test appearance came against Australia in 2015.
