Thalapathy Vijay's 'Jana Nayagan' To Release On Pongal 2026

Chennai, March 24 - Thalapathy Vijay's cinematic farewell Jana Nayagan has officially been confirmed to hit the big screen during the Pongal 2026 festival. The movie is directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions.

Jana Nayagan marks a significant milestone for Vijay as it is potentially the last film of his career before his full-time political entry. Announced for January 9 release, the movie will look to dominate the lucrative Makar Sankranti and Pongal holiday period at the box office.



This is not the first time a Thalapathy Vijay-starrer has been released during this period. Previously, blockbuster films like Master (2021) Pokkiri (2007), Kaavalan (2011), Jilla (2014), Bairavaa (2017) dominated the festival.

Jana Nayagan stars Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol in the lead roles, alongside Gautham Vasudev Menon, Prakash Raj, Narain, Priyamani, Mamitha Baiju, Monisha Blessy and Varalaxmi Sarathkumar. It will be released in Tamil and Telugu.
