'Thor Love and Thunder' First Reactions From World Premiere Are Out
Los Angeles, June 24 - Marvel Studios' Thor Love and Thunder has had its world premiere on Thursday, and the first reactions are in. The official critics' reviews will not be out before July 5, so this is the first glimpse of what audiences are saying.
"Thor 4" reunites director Taika Waititi with Chris Hemsworth aka Thor. Natalie Portman's Jane Foster returns to the franchise for the first time since "Thor: The Dark World" (2013) and this time around will wield the power of Thor as Mighty Thor. It also stars Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and actors from the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise.
Slated to release on July 7 (India), "Thor Love and Thunder" is set after the events of "Avengers: Endgame" (2019). In the movie, Thor attempts to find inner peace but must return to action and recruit Valkyrie, Korg, and Jane Foster—who has become the Mighty Thor - to stop Gorr the God Butcher from eliminating all gods.

Another classic Thor adventure! #ThorLoveAndThunder is everything I wanted it to be. Big, colorful, weird Guns N' Roses-fueled battles to go w/ a hopelessly romantic story about discovering love in unexpected places. Christian Bale & Russell Crowe are especially great. And Korg! pic.twitter.com/fu0gTUuMRj

#ThorLoveAndThunder is absolutely electrifying. My favorite #Thor movie of the four.

Taika Waititi through and through. It’s mature, the soundtrack rocks, and there’s great surprises. So much fun.
Feels like the best of MCU Phase 1 and Phase 4 in one entry. Loved it. pic.twitter.com/3SO5yoy6j0
holy shit. #ThorLoveandThunder is the perfect blend of taika at his best with comedy and a punch to the gut all in one. i left this movie emotionally satisfied while also sobbing and just perfection. we stan a dad rock soundtrack. in the words of my new favorite characters: AHH pic.twitter.com/MytduVq89h

#ThorLoveAndThunder surpasses all expectations balancing absolutely bombastic insanity with moving character driven stories. Christian Bale is top tier and Natalie Portman is truly outstanding. Waititi may have just delivered the MCU’s best movie of Phase 4 #ThorLoveAndThunder pic.twitter.com/HDePEKKS8P

#ThorLoveAndThunder has highs and lows but doesn't scale back on the action. It has great fight scenes and chemistry between the actors has never been better.

Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman's return as Jane Foster are the standouts. ⚡️ pic.twitter.com/g3pNc5mbdp
#ThorLoveAndThunder is electric! A wacky, high energy delight with a cast full of aces crushing one scene after the next. LOADS of laughs (my face legit hurts), menace of Christian Bale’s Gorr is chilling, but most of all loved that it’s a film brimming with good vibes & heart. pic.twitter.com/CjVHkxAprC

#ThorLoveAndThunder is predictably hilarious yet unexpectedly personal and heartfelt. Christian Bale and Natalie Portman's performances truly shine while Waititi delivers an emotional story. I think this may be my favorite Thor movie. pic.twitter.com/i7BpmQHvQ1

#ThorLoveAndThunder has an Appetite For Destruction & laughs. It’s totally rad! Taika Waititi delivers a subversive, irreverent spectacle. Great story, stakes & character-building. Chris Hemsworth & Natalie Portman, superb.Russell Crowe & Christian Bale slip easily into the world pic.twitter.com/W7PUUXIfM5

#ThorLoveAndThunder is everything great about comic book movies! Truly hilarious insanity, heart wrenching tragedy, and bombastic action! Visually stunning and one of the best MCU soundtracks. The entire cast is fantastic, but Christian Bale and Natalie Portman are phenomenal! pic.twitter.com/dVkpf54fmP

This isn't just Thor or Jane's story. This is Valkyrie's story as well in #ThorLoveAndThunder. And Tessa Thompson's King Valkyrie being her most authentic self is something viewers will appreciate. Deeply.❤️ pic.twitter.com/x47EGBOVaW

Natalie Portman as Jane Foster, aka #MightyThor, is just such a home run. Her whole story here is powerful and fulfilling.

Christian Bale is creepy good as #Gorr. He could’ve benefitted from a little more screen time but lands really well. Great villain.#ThorLoveAndThunder pic.twitter.com/0yDhSGtDjg
Had the honor of watching #ThorLoveAndThunder today. Portman is great, may be the MVP. But the performance worth of an Oscar is from Waititi's Korg. You wouldn't expect those dramatic scenes. Saddly, the Academy is conservative and doesn't recognize voice acting and mo-cap.👇 pic.twitter.com/sP7h05bcsc

#ThorLoveAndThunder is a solid take on the Mighty Thor comics — it’s great to see Natalie wield the hammer and all that comes with it. Christian Bale is a top tier MCU villain and Chris/Tessa are great as always. Another Taika win with humor, heart & a can’t miss credits reveal. pic.twitter.com/BGkXgCEyV9

#ThorLoveAndThunder is absolutely AMAZING. It blows every other Marvel movie out of the water, and doubles down on the Ragnarok charm. A classic @TaikaWaititi joint, so many laughs and tears, with a moving narrative and beautiful visuals. And those post credits? OH MY GOD. pic.twitter.com/41iuRXPf0O

#ThorLoveAndThunder is everything I expected it to be. The story is great, it's emotional, comedy, fun and solid love searching action. Christian Bale and Nathalie Portman shined perfectly in their roles. Love and Thunder did not disappoint.. it's just freaking beautiful. pic.twitter.com/FZ5czwqvgr

Wow!! #ThorLoveandThunder is great! The best entry in Phase 4 behind Shang-Chi and No Way Home. I laughed. I cried. Then I laughed and cried some more, in that order. Natalie Portman is FINALLY given her due. Dr. Jane Foster is more than worthy of being the Mighty Thor.⚡️ pic.twitter.com/oOop89P1uf

#ThorLoveAndThunder is undeniably a film. Brimming with a score, cinematography, and performances, it’s a movie made by a team of filmmakers that can irrefutably be described as existent. Truly one of the films 2022 has to offer pic.twitter.com/YJ09bb6n1N

Thor: Love and Thunder is a fun, tight, and largely self contained Marvel adventure. If not quite as much of a surprise as Ragnarok, this is more evidence that Taika Waititi knows how to make Thor a blast. Heart/humor mix again to make for a real good time. #ThorLoveAndThunder pic.twitter.com/Bkxn5HJFQe
